Once again, the popular summer party at the Fondation Beyeler will take place on the last weekend of the Basel summer holidays this year, with an extensive day and evening programme. The museum, the Kunst Raum Riehen and the adjacent park are open to visitors all day with a wide range of activities giving guests the opportunity to explore and linger. It is also the last weekend of the summer exhibition, when the entire museum and the surrounding park become the setting for an experimental exhibition of contemporary art for the first time. Introductory dialogues and interactive family tours offer exciting insights and, in line with the interdisciplinary concept of the exhibition, there will be new features to expand your art experience. On a scent tour, participants immerse themselves in the world of art and discover new perspectives, while the ‘Open Eyes’ tool invites you to experience works of art with all of your senses. Beyond the exhibition spaces, numerous other workshops offer opportunities to get creative, play, read and linger amongst the sculptures of the summer exhibition in the park itself.
In the evening, the pavilion in the park of the Fondation Beyeler transforms into a concert stage featuring internationally acclaimed American duo CocoRosie! Sisters Sierra and Bianca Casady combine elements of pop, blues, electronic music, hip hop and opera to create a poetic, timeless sound delivered with extraordinary stage presence. Sierra is a classically trained opera singer and stage actress, Bianca is a poet and visual artist, and the two use theatre, movement, high fashion and contemporary art to create an overall work that reflects the human experience. Their art advocates for human rights and addresses injustice in social contexts. In 2024, CocoRosie are celebrating their 20th anniversary and their Fondation Beyeler park summer party appearance will offer a unique unplugged performance with a mix of songs both beloved and brand-new.
For the summer party, the museum and restaurant will remain open until 10 pm. Admission to the park is free; admission to the museum costs 10 CHF.
The summer party is generously supported by the BLKB and hosted in collaboration with the Riehen Cultural Office and the Kunst Raum Riehen.
