“Matisse – Invitation to the Voyage” Family Day events schedule

The family day for the exhibition "Matisse – Invitation to the Voyage" is all about creative perspectives, colourful worlds of colour and exciting paper experiments. Family tours and the hands-on booklet offer entertaining approaches to the works in the exhibition. The youngest visitors can travel on the storytelling carpet or explore the museum with Fred the squirrel. There are workshops for all ages to create, research and play.

Register for activities in the museum on site at the information desk.

All activities are included in the museum admission ticket. Admission to the museum is free up to age 25.

German: 11 a.m., 12noon, 1 p.m., 2 p.m., 3 p.m., 4.30 p.m.
English: 11.30 a.m., 2.30 p.m.
French: 12.30 p.m., 3.30 p.m.
Duration: approx. 30 minutes / Maximum of 16 participants

What do the paintings have to say? Children aged three to six and their parents/guardians are invited to sit on a colourful rug in front of the paintings in the exhibitions, listen to stories and create their own.

Fred leaps to the fore and tells exciting stories about the Fondation Beyeler’s collections. A hand puppet tour for young and old.
German: 12.30 p.m., 2.30 p.m.
Duration: approx. 30 minutes / Maximum of 16 participants

The activity booklet offers numerous ideas for exploring the works in the exhibition together and getting creative yourself. It is available free of charge in the foyer.

We are celebrating Children's Rights Day (20 November) with a creative challenge for young artists. A bag of materials to take home can be picked up at the info desk.

Workshops (in hall 20, in the park if the weather is exceptionally nice)

11 a.m. – 6 p.m.

Green, blue, orange - inspired by Matisse's paper collages, we create our own paper cut-outs from coloured paper and put them together to create a large joint work.

10 a.m. – 6 p.m.

Underwater world with goldfish or imaginative skyscape? We create patterns from plant and animal shapes and print them on fabric bags.

10 a.m. – 6 p.m.

From detail to the big picture: At easels, you can paint, draw and design landscapes to match objects from Matisse's works.

Discover the museum park and get creative yourself! "The thingamajig in the park" can be borrowed free of charge from the information desk.
